On 29-30 May 2015 in Ohrid, DSAM (Disinfection and Sterilization Association of Macedonia), an NGO established in 2009, was the host of an International Symposium of disinfection and sterilization, the first symposium organized by the association. Forum’s motto was: "Lett's disinfect and sterilize according to standards, let's share the knowledge”. The Chairwoman of the association was Mrs. Aneta Simonovska (operating room nurse) and the President of Organizing committee was Mrs. Julia Jovanovska (infection control nurse). The purpose was to present the novelties in the field of disinfection and sterilization. the scientific program A total of 28 oral presentations and 6 posters were included in the scientific program with educational and organizational character, as well as results of experimental studies, related exclusively to the importance of cleaning the surfaces, instruments and special equipment.
The forum was attended by a large number of specialists in disinfection and infection control from: Croatia (Vlatka Turcic, Hrvoje Ujakovic), Poland (Teresa Salinska), Belgium (Wim Renders), Turkey (Duygu Percin), Serbia (Biljana Carevic) Italy (Anthony Pellicci, Antonio Scavelli), France (Gregoire Laillier), Britain (Peter Newson), Switzerland (Urs.B. Rosenberg), Czech Republic (Tomas Dovrtel) and Slovenia (Masha Lukan). Among the official guests was prof. Duygu Perchin from Turkey – a representative of the WFHSS (World Federation for Hospital Sterilization Sciences). The participation of Bulgaria and particularly of the members of BulNoso, was met with interest – there were presented 3 oral presentations (by dr.Valentina Tzaneva, dr. Milena Nikolova, dr. Antonina Korcheva) and 6 posters with leading authors: Assoc.Prof. Dr. Gacheva (on behalf of the BulNoso Board official presentation of the 10-year experience of BulNoso), Prof.Dr.Stoilova, Assoc.Prof.Dr.Kevorkyan, Dr. Zacharieva, Dr. Stoeva and Dr. Atanasovski.
The informal talks with the hosts Mrs. Simonovska and Mrs. Jovanovska on the future collaboration between BulNoso and DSAM were proved especially beneficial. With particular interest was accepted the possibility nurses / health care specialists from Macedonia to pass a training course in Bulgaria aiming to obtain a certificate "specialist in infection control."
