Prophylactic vaccines against cervical cancer and their implementation in Bulgaria

The BulNoso Board led by its desire to be helpful to Bulgarian specialists of infection control and provoked by the growing anti-vaccination movement in the country, introduces a new topic : "Vaccines - the main tool for prevention and control of communicable diseases".

The BulNoso web site provides access to the Bulgarian version of the IFIC’s manual on Infection Control: “Basic Concepts” The intent of the manual is to provide a foundation of scientifically basic infection control principles and requirements. The translation of the ten most important chapters of this book was made possible according to the initiative and with the efforts of the experts of Bulgarian Association for Prevention and Infection Control [BulNoso]. Chapters are posted and available on the IFIC website.

The initial issue of the new series BulNoso Academy of our Bulletin “Nosocomial infections” is published in 2014, entitled "For infection prevention in hospital practice. Tool for clinicians." The first to receive the book were the participants in the 10th Congress of BulNoso. The second special issue is focused on hand hygiene in clinical practice (published 2015). The third handbook is dedicated to prevention of infections, associated with invasive procedures in medical practice. We are glad to provide you with the bundles of the four indicator infections and the checklists of their implementation (published in 2017). The fourth handbook is dedicated to sterilization and disinfection in healthcare settings, containing translation in Bulgarian of the Turkish guideline (in English) http://www.deconidi.ie/html/members/
, and kindly provided by the Turkish Society for Disinfection, Antisepsis, and Sterilization http://www.das.org.tr.

WHO Global Campaign

SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands

'It's in your hands - prevent sepsis in health care'

WHO urges us to focus on the fight against sepsis in the context of hand hygiene and infection prevention and control (IPC) programmes. Hand hygiene is at the core of effective IPC to combat sepsis and the other types of HAIs, and campaigning each year on or around 5 May is one important part of improving behaviour towards IPC best practices. This year the campaign materials are all co-branded with ‘It’s in your hands – prevent sepsis in health care’ to demonstrate unity between IPC efforts , antimicrobial resistance and sepsis.
